So… we were going to leave today… but we had some complications…
My partner is still extremely tired, so travel is probably not the best idea. But that isn’t our only hurdle… My partner had wanted to take the bus to our next country, but that was going to be a very long bus ride, which is fine… if… the bus station is easily accessible. We couldn’t figure it out reliably. The bus station seemed like it was just the side of the highway off of the main island of Abu Dhabi. Seemed like the bus actually left from Dubai and just picked people up in Abu Dhabi “along the way”. So… over an hour on public transportation to get there, no clear address to stop and wait at, and we had read a review that said they did the trip in reverse and were dropped off in the middle of nowhere with no taxis or anything around. Not ideal. And it’s late at night, so we don’t really want to get dropped off in the dark in the middle of nowhere without internet to figure any plan B out. Alright, another missed opportunity to cross a land border, but my partner comes to terms with that and tries to buy a plane ticket. Nope. No such luck. We have no idea why it doesn’t work. My partner has been having troubles with his credit card, but even the work around that they provided isn’t working here. Let’s take it as “a sign” to stay and rest in Abu Dhabi. Probably not the right move to travel while not feeling 100% anyway. So we’re here for at least another day. We extend our stay and plan on what to do today.
Well… we mostly stayed inside with pouring rain all day. No point in feeling worse. When it finally stops, we pretty much go for a run to try to see some things while trying not to get wet. Luckily, we didn’t count on it not raining for the rest of the night, so we went out properly prepared. It did rain once pretty hard, but luckily we were inside of another beautiful underpass. Complete with a fountain. (You can tell it’s later in the day from both the lighting and the fountain running).
Of course, the Corniche was a beautiful walk, always is.
Then we continue on our way and walk closer to the port where there are markets and things like that. We’re not looking for anything in bulk, so we continue on our way.
And then we came out to the road we had seen while coming back from the Louvre Abu Dhabi, another angle of the skyline.
But that’s it! Hopefully you’re not disappointed. All of our other days are jam packed, and today we just did a little walk and got some groceries and some hot tea. Maybe tomorrow my partner will have more energy! We will go to sleep in Abu Dhabi tonight… but we will wait and see if it will be for the last time or not. Goodnight from Abu Dhabi!
