Another relaxing day in Abu Dhabi. We’re sure we will get back to our usual packed days soon, but this is it for now!
We just walked towards the beach and sat in this chair and read. What a way to pass the day, right? We can imagine that this is what most people think about when they think of “vacation”.
Well…. turns out you have to pay for the chair. We had no idea, but a guy came up to us and asked if we had paid. We obviously hadn’t, and weren’t going to start now. So we moved off of the chair and onto a towel (luckily my partner brought one today, he hadn’t yesterday).
Well… that’s literally all we did for hours, so there’s not much more to show until we started walking back towards the hotel in the evening. Again, we took a slightly different path along the Corniche and saw some new things. Always the case when you take a slightly different path, right?
We took that first picture because we were reminded of Alice in Wonderland when the cards are working on the Queen’s garden. That and the maze… maybe that’s the look they’re going for here? We love it.
A little further on we came to the Lake Park. Now, we will be honest. We saw the name of this park many times while walking in this area and just ignored it because we thought “what lake can be here?” Well… it’s not a “lake” by our more “classic” definition, but it’s definitely a happening place. A lot of families are walking around the area and enjoying the late afternoon air.
Then we went to the first park we visited while in Abu Dhabi, what seems like so long ago now. Grabbed some pictures in the daylight showing how much attention to detail Abu Dhabi puts into making their parks around the Corniche enjoyable.
And then we confirmed our theory even more. We are sticking to our theory that the fountains only work in the evening so that people enjoy them when they are out and so that the water doesn’t evaporate as much. This monument is much better as a fountain. The other day we hadn’t even noticed that it was a fountain at all.
Well.. that’s it for our time in Abu Dhabi, we think. My partner is feeling much, much better, so we should take advantage of his returning energy and leave the country! Goodnight from Abu Dhabi!
